Carbon Farming and Ranching Short Story
Loren Poncia discovered the powers of carbon sequestration after partnering with the Marin Carbon Project a decade ago. After learning from the environmental stewardship program, Poncia has continued to implement carbon farming practices at Stemple Creek Ranch. Since incorporating compost at the ranch, Poncia has noticed beneficial changes to the land, noting that the grassy forage on the property is sustained longer throughout the seasons. In addition to being a valuable tool for carbon capturing, the use of compost at the ranch has also been a catalyst for an increase in biodiversity on the landscape from plants, birds and even insects.
